Press Release: Binders is moving into the Limelight! (Atlanta)
Binders Art Supplies & Frames Inc. Moves into the Limelight

After 35 years in Buckhead, Binders Art Supplies & Frames Inc. is moving into the former “Limelight” nightclub in the Piedmont Crossing shopping center in April 2004.

Lindbergh Plaza on Piedmont Road, where Binders is currently located, is being torn down for a two-year redevelopment project. All tenants, including Binders, must relocate.

Binders owners Howard Krinsky and Jay Shapiro believe Piedmont Crossing in Buckhead will be the perfect location for their art supply and picture frame store.

“This is a chance for us to expand and do more things we want to do,” Krinsky said. “We are still going to feel like a hometown store, but there are some surprises we’ll unveil at this new location.”

One of those surprises will be an art gallery inside the new store, the “Limelight Gallery,” that will feature, among other artists, Selma Glass. Glass bought her first paint at Binders in 1988 and is now a renowned African-American artist.

The essence of the new Binders store is not the sterile, cookie-cutter feel often used by corporate retail giants, but one that emphasizes personal service, Krinsky added.

Binders will continue to sponsor art workshops and demonstrations at the new location and give discounts to local art students and art educators. Binders supports the local arts community by contributing a portion of sales to various local arts leagues and to local schools that have a focus on art, design and related fields.

Binders’ new store will be located at 3330 Piedmont Rd., where Piedmont intersects Peachtree Street.

Binders has been selling art supplies, creative gifts and picture frames in Atlanta for more than 50 years.
